The clients initially contacted Acadia with a vision and expectation that we could transform their old tired garden into a newer more modern look. The scope was a simple one, "we would like a moremodern feel but would also like to create a play area for the children."

Prior to install of revamped landscaping, existing vegetation and materials had to be removed and disposed. This included the felling and removal of stumps of four 10mtr tall palm tree. All existing plants and vegetation were removed with mini machinery.

A new French provincial style pathway was installed to allow easy access from the front of the property to the rear alfresco area. A new large turf area was created surrounded by gardens.

This private residence is a good example of the full design and construct process Acadia’s professional team offers its clients, from initial consultation through to installation and completion.

The designs basis was to be a low maintenance product which also complied with the particular covenant of the area in question.

Feature tree plantings of Brachychiton acerifolius (Illawara flame tree) gives structure and a canopy for the understory plants to thrive. To the rear a screening hedge of Syzygium “Aussie Southern” was chosen to soften and tie in with the front section of landscape. Around the pool area a pair of Wodyetia bifurcata (foxtail palms) was planted to frame the vista, while oversize river stone was used as a mulch to add feature and eliminate the problem of material from organic mulches ending up in the pool.

Timber decks were constructed out of Kwila to the front portico and rear living areas. These areas are practical, by providing an easy and stylish entrance to the dwelling. They also add another element to the overall design by offering a livable area within the landscape that is functional while also easy on the eye. To the sides of the property treated pine fence returns and gates were installed and stained mahogany to match the decks.
